An "Odds and Ends Winter"
Several new features added, minor track and signal maintenance. Nothing major yet the new features will make life easier and the Railway appear more professional.
Winter 2022 / 23 was when they happened!
-    Carriage Shed Water & Steps
-    Track Work
-    Firewood Store
-    Tunnel Signal Sockets
-    Steps in Shed Pit
Carriage Shed Water and Steps
On the left of the left hand picture the foundations of the water tank can be seen. The completed project collects water from the carriage shed roof and includes a submersible pump in the tank. When the tap on the model water crane at Old Oak is opened, the drop in pressure calls the pump and sends water.
The steps provide access to the tank and, with the retaining wall, make the area more professional.
Tunnel Signal Sockets

Peter continued his work improving the signal electrical sockets. In particular he provided sockets for the tunnel colour lights. These had previously been permanently connected and now can be unplugged for maintenance and winter storage.
The anoraks in the team were delighted to point out Peter's error when he arranged that a single yellow light was displayed as the top lamp of the two yellows on the signal. Easily corrected!
Track Work
As ever, Robin was in charge here. Two lengths were tackled. The approach to Old Oak and a section of the engine shed approach from Dingly.
The picture on the left shows the winter weather that we often endure whilst we work!
New Steps in the Shed Pit

These steps were constructed by Alan S to allow easier access to and from the engine shed pit. They latch on to screws in brickwork so can't be kicked out of place, but can also be removed for winter storage. An elegant solution typical of the skill Alan brings to the Railway.
Firewood Store
Its Alan S in the serious picture preparing the groundwork while the other shows . . . . .
